The Director of Advancement will work closely with the Assistant Vice President, Advancement, to strengthen corporate and foundation funding and partnerships for ACE's annual meeting, Corporate Membership Program, and division programs to meet fundraising goals. The Director's focus is on strategic growth of corporate and foundation support through prospect research, cultivation strategies, solicitation, and stewardship leading to sponsorship, grant, and in-kind support. This position focuses primarily on ACE's Annual Meeting and the Corporate Membership Program. Essential Job Duties or Tasks: Fund Raising Work with the Assistant Vice President, Advancement and independently to: Increase external funding of ACE's programs, annual conference, and Corporate Membership Program. Identify key areas of opportunity for corporate and foundation engagement to support work across ACE. Cultivate close working relationships with companies and foundations through frequent engagement, including travel for face-to-face meetings. Develop concept papers or other background documents, proposals, sponsorship materials, and reports for funding partners by working with staff Council-wide. Implement comprehensive stewardship strategies for donors. Complete special projects as assigned. Annual Meeting Oversee and develop strategies to expand sponsorship for the Annual Meeting. Cultivate and actively solicit corporate partners for sponsorships, corporate memberships, exhibitions, and advertising. Working with appropriate ACE staff, contribute to the design, content, and marketing of Annual Meeting materials including the conference prospectus, website and mobile app. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen the sponsorship, exhibition, and corporate-sponsored sessions to align them with corporate relations strategies. Attend ACE Annual Meeting every year; attend other conferences, as needed, to cultivate prospects. Corporate Membership Program Oversee the development and implementation strategies to increase unrestricted contributions to ACE; oversee program goals and revenue. Corporate and Foundation Relations Programs/Major Initiatives Engage corporations and foundations in funding opportunities for all ACE programs. Work with appropriate staff to develop and implement other revenue opportunities, such as for ACE webinars. Assure appropriate cultivation, stewardship, and other engagement opportunities of corporate and foundation donors with program staff. Management Supervise the Senior Specialists positions (2) and oversee the work of other staff on specific projects. With Assistant Vice President, manage short- and long-term progress toward funding ACE's strategic priorities. Manage Advancement budget, making recommendations to the AVP as appropriate, and attend Management Review meetings. Represent Advancement on the Annual Meeting Leadership Group, Marketing and Communications Working Group, Online Presence Group, and chair the Revenue and Expense Working Group. Oversee preparation and placement of corporate recognition and other advancement information in ACE print and digital publications (Annual Report, Annual Meeting program, Higher Education & National Affairs e-newsletter, and Higher Education Today blog) Education/Experience/Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements: Demonstrated success in corporate and foundation relations and fundraising: at least 10 years directly related fundraising work to include experience in areas such as major gifts, grants, sponsorships, marketing, corporate social responsibility, etc. Experience overseeing sponsorship strategies and planning for conferences or other large-scale convenings. Demonstrated understanding of fundraising from foundation and corporations including practices related to corporate giving, CSR, etc. Superior oral and written communication skills Entrepreneurial, ability to multi-task, and innovative thinker Management experience Experience working with diverse audiences and constituencies Collaborative working style Director: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in discipline. Substantive experience at Associate Director Level. Please submit a resume and cover letter.
