Position Overview
This position is a Solution Architecture Tech Lead supporting the development and maintenance of information system architectures within Freddie Mac’s Investments and Capital Markets (I&CM) Business Transformation Office (BTO). The Solution Architect assists technical teams and business stakeholders in resolving complex problems through innovative, comprehensive, and practical solutions. As a Tech Lead, the architect will operate independently and interact with key stakeholders with limited reliance upon senior architectural staff. Responsibilities include:
* Create and maintain application system architectures across the business, data, application, and technology domains
* Document architectural activities throughout the project lifecycle: architecture patterns, decisions, rationales, and other traditional architectural artifacts
* Identify, evaluate, and recommend alternative solutions to meet business needs
* Collaborate with business owners, delivery teams and vendors to align solution architectures with business objectives and established architectural guidelines
* Operate across multiple layers of business and technical stakeholders to identify and resolve architectural issues
* Establish and maintain technical credibility with business counterparts and technology leadership

Basic Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or financial engineering
* 15+ years of technology experience incorporating:
o Hands-on experience in common technologies such as Web Service APIs and techniques, J2EE Integration and EAI products, ESB and messaging services, .NET, and DBMS-related offerings
o System programming utilizing multiple languages
o Broad working knowledge in multiple disciplines such as application middleware, database servers, infrastructure platforms, security products, ETL solutions, rule engines and BI tools
* 5+ years of architectural experience:
o Analyzing business requirements and documenting technical requirements
o Architecting appropriate technology solutions
o Enabling strategic transformations, including current/future state assessments and transitional roadmaps
o Interacting directly with business and technology stakeholders
o (Preferred) Designing large scale, distributed enterprise applications
* Strong presentation and communication skills

Preferred Skills
* Graduate degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent work experience
* Relevant industry certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL), or equivalent work experience
* Experience in GSE and/or Capital Markets environments
