PRS, Inc. CrisisLink's CareRing program is a daily telephone calling program designed to help individuals who are living alone, aged, disabled, or chronically ill maintain their independence and keep connected to the community.
- Must be 21 years of age to volunteer with CareRing. CareRing volunteers receive 8 hours of intensive, small group and on-the-job training to handle crisis calls. Trainings are offered at the CrisisLink call center in Arlington, VA. Please follow the link to see upcoming training dates; https://prsinc.org/crisislink/services/carering/ .
- Must be willing to commit to at least one, 3-hour shift per week for the duration of one full year. Must be able to access reliable transportation to the PRS CrisisLink location in Arlington, VA for your weekly shift.
What We're Offering:
- A chance to increase an individual's feelings of social connectedness. Training to provide effective emotional and social support to all age groups, but in particular seniors (50+) over the phone. Learned suicide intervention skills and how to implement them. Knowledge of local resources in the community available for seniors. Internships available for semester or year-long programs.
