The National Air and Space Museum is seeking a Manager of Special Events. The incumbent will manage the activities of the Office of Special Events as well as supervise and manage special events.

Duties

  • Responsible for the development and production of all Special Events at the National Air and Space Museum: the Mall Museum, and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
  • Supervises the museum Special Events staff.
  • Formulates, reviews, composes, and enforces the National Air and Space Museum procedures, donation requirements and standards governing special events activities.
  • Ensures outreach strategies for attracting and sustaining relationships with business, public relations and event communities are being developed.

Qualifications

You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as: experience tracking event revenue, expenses, designs and budgets. Experience also must include working with corporate sponsors and senior Government Officials and leading subordinate employees which includes interviewing, selecting, establishing performance plans, appraising employees’ performances, assigning work, reviewing work, identifying and providing training and counseling.

Salary and Length of Appointment
This is a non-federal (Trust), indefinite, full-time appointment, with an annual salary of $112,021.00 to $145,629.00. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package with health insurance, accrual of annual (vacation) sick leave, and the TIAA/CREF retirement plan.
