Its award winning approach towards sustainability makes Amcor the preferred partner for customers looking for responsible packaging solutions.Job OverviewThis position is responsible for Human Resources activities for the Hagerstown plant which includes the following: plan, organize and direct the administration of all Amcor human resource policies, procedures and programs regarding recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and development, EEO, and employee relations necessary to carry out Company and Plant objectives. The Human Resources Manager will provide guidance to the Plant General Manager, functional managers and supervisors in the interpretation and application of established human resources policies to create a climate of trust and open and direct communication and ensure full compliance with all relevant federal and state laws and governmental regulations. Job DimensionsPlan and implement recruitment and retention strategies.Develop communication programs to effectively promote understanding of policies and benefits.Advise and assist in the evaluation and installation and/or modification of compensation programs that are, and that will be perceived as, fair and equitable, consistent with the financial position of the organization. Activities include; compliance with governmental wage and hour regulations, participate in job evaluation and work measurement projects and conduct and analyze local wage and salary surveys.Work closely with the Plant General Manager to maintain a skilled workforce while supporting corporate/budged headcount requirements.Review recommended merit increases/promotions to ensure equity and consistency.Develop plant job descriptions.Assist Plant General Manager in Succession Planning by evaluating salaried employees' capabilities/current job performance and recommending appropriate developmental activities.Support managers in the performance review process meeting required deadlines.Prepare and oversee payroll function and benefits administration activities for the site.Mentor, coach and confidant to Plant General Manager and Leadership Team.Principal AccountabilitiesAssist in the administration of Benefits Program such as group life, health, accident and dental insurance and Short-term Disability. Provide information regarding the benefit appeals process, when necessary. Conduct benefit communication programs and assist with annual and new hire benefit enrollment.Develop and administer "wellness" and EAP programs.Develop and maintain open communication with the work force to assess employee attitude and sentiments and to promote a non-union atmosphere.Coordinate administration of periodic employee morale surveys and employee feedback meetings and ensure appropriate action plans are developed and implemented.Maintain and update salaried human resources information in the HRIS system. Assure the accurate maintenance of employee records for all employees. Run reports and forms required by the plant.Identify, plan, and conduct or coordinate technical training and personal development programs. In cooperation with line management, determine training needs, measure effectiveness of training, and make modifications based upon results*.Take proactive measures to ensure plant recruitment, support and demonstration of a diverse workforce.Perform other duties and tasks required or directed by General Manager or Corporate HR.Bi-weekly payroll process administration.Knowledge and ExperienceThree to five years HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.Maintain flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals.Demonstrated analytical, reasoning and problem-solving ability.Ability to deal with difficult individuals/situations while maintaining composure, using good judgment and fairness at all levels of the organization.Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records; high degree of PC literacy (preferably with MS Office) and experience with HRIS systems.Ability to function as a contributing member and leader of various work teams.Demonstrated commitment and sensitivity to diversity issues.Demonstrated observance of non-union status.GMP and HACCP plant training.Education and CertificationsFour-year college degree in human resources management or business, or equivalent.
