The Pratt Library is accepting applications for a Building Repairer in the Facilities Department.The Building Repairer performs the following skilled trades: painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC work during the course of maintaining and repairing the physical structures and utility systems of Central and Branch Library buildings. This position reports to the Buildings Maintenance Supervisor. Summary of Duties:The summary of duties listed below is not exhaustive. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the hiring department or division.Maintain and repair the physical structures and utilitiy systems of the Central and Branch Library buildings utilizing the following skills: painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.Use appropriate hand and power tools to replace defective electrical switches and other fixtures, paint and repair woodwork, repair plumbing fixtures and plaster, and set floor tiles.Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate. Three years experience in building repair and maintenance work including experience in three of the five above mentioned trades required. Strong background in HVAC and plumbing preferred. A valid Maryland State driver's license. Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the tools, materials, measuring devices, technology and equipment. Work may involve evening, week-end, and holiday hours.
