POSITION SUMMARY:Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions is expanding the Matthews York facility, located in York Pennsylvania, and is looking for talented individuals to join our team. For over 85 years, Matthews York facility (formerly known as York Casket) has produced hardwood, all-wood construction, and wood veneer caskets that are second-to-none in the industry. These superior products are manufactured and distributed to funeral homes located throughout the US and Canada. The 1st Shift Machine Operator,Under general supervision, will be responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of machining equipment used to produce or modify parts or products. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning. Operates various equipment including but not limited to: Double End Tenoner, Finish Planer, High Frequency Glue Machine, Moulder, Rosenquist Glue Machine, Rough Planer, Router, Swell Miter Machine, Time Saver, Rip Saw, Panel Moulder, Top Frame Miter, Wrapper, Lumber Stacker, Profile Grinder, etc.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*Determine parts to be manufactured based upon production order/ticket or provided stock.*Perform equipment set-up for day-to-day operations.*Operate equipment by foot pedal, switch, control arm or toggle.*Manually feed stock material into equipment.*Manually unload parts and inspect visually or with gauge for quality.*Restock parts as needed to ensure efficient production process.*Works from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models.*Inspects machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools.*Determines and corrects minor machine malfunctions upon Supervisor approval.*Observe safety precautions, rules, and regulations.*Additional duties as assigned.PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:*Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. *Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. *Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.*Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.*The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.* Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.QUALIFICATIONS:*Minimum high school diploma required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.*3+ months of previous related experience preferred.*Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. *Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.*Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos*Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.*Ability to work overtime as necessary*Must have current driver's licenseEqual Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled
