Helper Distribution Tester- NERC
Position DescriptionObserves and performs routine manual functions to assist in testing and analyzing conditions of overhead and underground transmission, distribution and customer electrical equipment.Position RequirementsRequired:Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including: all weather conditions, at extreme heights (above 30 feet), in confined or enclosed spaces, in hot, dark, noisy or dirty areas with limited lighting, foul water, mud, dust, and noxious fumes with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Ability and willingness to perform both indoor and outdoor tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, steel towers and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).Ability and willingness to operate aerial lifts.Ability and willingness to work on or around hazardous equipment/materials (for example, coal ash, open flames, heavy equipment, etc.), and/or energized electrical equipment.Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and Company regulations (for example, hardhat, safety glasses, ear plugs, di-electric safety shoes, electrically insulated rubber gloves and sleeves, fire retardant clothing, reflective traffic vest and fall protection harness).Ability and willingness to work rotating shift work, on holidays and weekends, and overtime as required.Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and job sites.Must possess a valid driver's license.Must successfully pass qualification test.Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background CheckMust successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.Preferred:Coursework related to electrical theory and/or electronics.Experience demonstrating skill safely testing and opening manholes.Experience demonstrating skill using various electrical test equipment, power tools and hand tools.Experience demonstrating basic knowledge of equipment/materials associated with electric distribution system construction.Associate's degree in electrical field or equivalent experience satisfactory to the Company, such as two years of post-secondary education with AC and DC circuit courses.Pepco Holdings, an Exelon Company, is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity and does not discriminate against applicants on the basis of characteristics protected by law.
