Job Category:Staff Department:Instructional Partnerships - HBEP Position Status:Part-Time Staff Salary Range:$23,042-28,803 Position Summary:The Transition Advisor serves as part-time, ten month administrative liaison between Anne Arundel County Public High Schools (AACPS) and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). The Transition Advisor will be based on-site at an assigned county high school and responsible for developing a collaborative relationship with school counselors, teachers, and staff. In addition they will provide classroom presentations and support for early college initiatives through outreach and related partnership activities. The Transition Advisor will provide assistance and support in career planning and academic advising and in high schools where AACC classes are offered on-site, the Transition Advisor will provide assistance and support to the college student support services staff. Job Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as the AACC liaison in the assigned county school working with program liaisons from STEM, AVID, Career and Technology Education, the SignatureProgram Facilitator, classroom teachers, school counselors and administrators to provide college preparation and guidance.Provide presentations to the high school community and stakeholders focused on successful transition strategies, college expectations, admissions processes and financial aid to support a college-going culture.Serve as a college liaison to provide detailed information to students on college credit and noncredit program pathways, college readiness, curriculum choices, registration procedures and the college's academic rules and regulations.Acquaint AACPS students with available college support resources such as Students Achieving Success Program (SASP), Office of Disabilities, tutoring and the Writing Center and serve as a liaison between the students and related resources provided by the college.In collaboration with AACPS counselors, teachers, department chairs, and organizational sponsors, develop and participate in activities including open houses, field trips, clubs, financial aid night and related special events.Provide detailed information related to college preparation, plans of study, dual enrollment and successful transition strategies to high school students through classroom presentations, individual discussions and outreach activities.In collaboration with the AACC Testing and Admissions personnel, provide preparation and assistance with ACCULACER administration and PersonalRegistration Days (PRD). This may include test registration, PRD appointments, ACCUPLACER Prep sessions, and on-site logistics.Facilitate and support on-site AACC dual enrollment courses offered at the high school in collaboration with student services colleagues and the Director ofEarly College Programs and Partnerships.Use technology to prepare monthly progress reports and document outreach activities, student contact and follow-up, research and preparation for presentations.Serve as a contributing member of the Anne Arundel County Program Pathways Team and the Instructional Partnerships Team. Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in teacher education, school counseling, school administration, social work or psychology required.A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an educational setting with responsibilities related to teaching, administration, advising, student outreach and public speaking.Experience working with high school students, teachers and staff.Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to provide group presentations to a variety of audiences.Ability to work independently as a college employee in a high school with attention to details, accuracy and deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet and email.Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and related information.
