Instructional Designer Job Description: Job Summary: The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing effective and engaging instructional materials for instructor-led, , web-based, and/or blended learning platforms. The Instructional Designer will be tasked with working with subject matter experts, design work consistent with sound instructional design principles with minimal supervision following client's style guide and standards. The Instructional Designer must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and meet aggressive deadlines. The Instructional Designer must have Captivate and Publisher experience. Duties and Responsibilities: * Analyze client source content, target audience demographics, job tasks, and learner environment to identify learning objectives and appropriate instructional strategies. * Make training recommendations consistent with established development time frames and budget. * Utilize a broad range of interactive, creative and intuitive instructional methods, including but not limited to demonstrations, simulations, hands-on activities, and assessments * Design and develop learning materials - Facilitator Guides, Participant Guides, PowerPoint presentations, Quick Reference Guides, Job Aids, and Audio/Video scripts. * Design and develop e-Learning Storyboards to precisely communicate instructional strategies to clients * Analyze input from Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to create and modify instructional materials. * Develop questionnaires and procedures to determine if objectives are being met. * Conduct Alpha and Beta Client Reviews in preparation for client validation. Skills/Qualifications: * Knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, human behavior and performance, methods for curriculum and training design, and the measurement of training effectiveness. * Excellent written and verbal communication, with solid knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. * Knowledge of Captivate and Publisher e-Learning development software * Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to support instructional design. * Ability to analyze source content and extract relevant information for instructional purposes. * Highly effective time and project management skills * Excellent proofreading and editing skills. * Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. * Ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate, and implement multiple projects. * Ability to identify problems, risks and issues; mediate and develop solutions; and implement a course of action. * Ability to effectively communicate with clients and Subject Matter Experts. * Experience supporting training teams and meeting project timelines.
