Role: Project Accountant Location: Corporate Office - Annapolis MD This Project Accountant position will work closely with Project Managers/Assistant Manager to complete weekly and monthly process; including project cost analysis, account reconciliations/audit, billing, and subcontractor payments and compliance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Manage workflow of all expenses for assigned projects using an electronic document management system to index and route invoices for approval. Reviews approved invoices for accuracy prior to importing into accounting system. * Issues payments to subcontractors/suppliers on a weekly basis. Reviews for compliance, prepares subcontractor payment form and lien waiver. * Monitors and tracks lien waivers and other project documents as necessary. * Enters subcontractor/supplier commitments and commitment change orders. * Review all invoices for accuracy and applicable sales tax, approval, changes prior to importing into Timberline. On a daily basis, manage incoming invoices through both postal and electronic mail methods. Prioritize as needed to ensure payment terms are met. * Respond to both internal and external inquiries on payment status, including supplier statement review. Resolve discrepancies according to established lines of authorization and level of control. * Follows up on open items to ensure invoices are processed in a timely basis; works closely with Project Managers and/or Assistant Project Managers to bring items to closure. * Updates projected cost to complete on a monthly basis. * Prepares AIA Owner bills and Lien waivers for Project Managers submission to Owners. * May run project financial reports and assist Project Managers reconcile and/or address concerns. * Assist with Project Closeout * Assist with A/R collection when needed. * Assist with other project related duties as needed. Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required * Three to five years minimum of related experience; project accounting experience preferred; knowledge of construction and job cost accounting necessary. * Strong written and verbal communications skills * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word). * Demonstrated experience working with Sage Timberline accounting software preferred, but not required. * Excellent time management and organization skills. * Must be a team player and work with minimal supervision. * Experience working in a fast paced environment * Experience with AIA contracts/Billing is highly preferred. * Experience with sales tax, multi-state a plus, but not required. * Prior experience in contract management a plus.
