We are seeking a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for the accounting activities in our Property Accounting Department related specifically to fixed assets. The key role of the Staff Accountant will center on reviewing general ledger account activity, analysis of fixed assets, complying with internal controls and procedures surrounding the fixed asset process, and the maintenance of fixed assets within our accounting systems. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for: accurate, consistent and complete reconciliation of fixed asset accounts for assigned Sunrise communities; timely documentation and clearance of identified variances; assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities; and g/l account variance analysis. The ability to successfully work in a team environment, to work across multiple facets of the organization, to properly prioritize daily activities, and to understand accounting issues in a complex corporate structure is essential in this position. RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS RESPONSIBLITIESReview all fixed asset related general ledger activity to ensure compliance with our asset capitalization policy. Determining the in-service date of various fixed assets and the timely staging of fixed assets to ensure depreciation is recorded promptly and accurately.Reconciliation of account balances to ensure accuracy of financial statements.Take on new activities in the department as they are assigned, either individually or working with fellow team members.Ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures.Create positive, free-flowing communication with the various departments at SSL that actively book to assigned accounts so that variances can be quickly resolved. QUALIFICATIONSA four year Accounting Degree or equivalent is required.2+ years of accounting experience in detailed oriented, high volume business is preferred.Fixed Asset accounting and reconciliation experience in a multi-ownership - multiple business unit environment is desirable.Working experience with PeopleSoft is desired but not required.Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsTeam oriented attitudeAbility to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environmentProven proficiency in a PC based accounting environment Sunrise maintains a drug-free work environment and all offers of employment with Sunrise are conditioned on submitting to and successfully completing and passing a drug and alcohol test.ABOUT SUNRISESunrise Senior Living has championed quality of life in senior care for more than 30 years.
