Our client is seeking a Director of Finance in the Washington, DC metro area.Primary Responsibilities: Processes, monitors, and evaluates the activities and performance of the accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Director of Finance prepares and monitors budgets. Monitors current department accounting systems and procedures and revises as required. Prepares entries for and reconciles the general ledger. Prepares required governmental reports and responds to inquiries. This includes quarterly and annual sales tax returns. The Director of Finance reviews daily cash flow reports, analyzes as required, and handles cash management. Administers preparation of monthly financial reporting and performs analysis. This includes a variance analysis as well as reports for management review. Provides a financial review for corporate state and property tax returns. Supervises disbursements of company funds to terms and in line with company policy. The Director of Finance prepares financial reports as required for issuance to banks and maintains banking relationships. Verifies support schedules to general ledger control accounts. Identifies additions or deletions to accounts in general ledger to improve control. Assures fixed asset physical control and accounting. Coordinates yearend audit review for external audit staff. Performs financial modeling to include projects, impact forecasting, and "what if" scenarios. The Director of Finance manages the annual business metrics process. Administers payroll. Prepares annual 1099s for contract labor. Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, and developments in the profession. Makes recommendations for implementation. Manages vendor relationships. Coordinates with the accounting firm as necessary. Assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in finance preferred. 7+ years experience in finance with demonstrated progressive responsibility. Knowledge of accounting software, Peachtree preferred. Must have excellent computer, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Possess the ability to make independent decisions. Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, clients, and general public. Must be knowledgeable of finance practices, procedures and guidelines. Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel. Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
