The Employee Relations & DevelopmentSpecialist is the primary college resource for complex employeerelations issues. This individual must have knowledge of allfederal, state, and local laws pertaining to employment,including EEO, ADA, ADEA & FLSA. This individual advises supervisors andassists with employee counseling, conducts investigations andensures consistency and fairness in the delivery of thecollege's progressive corrective action procedure. The EmployeeRelations & Development Specialist also coordinates exitinterviews, replies to unemploymentclaims and appeals, and ensures that all employee actions arewell documented. The Employee Relations & DevelopmentSpecialist is responsible for many aspects of employeedevelopment including performance appraisal management, newemployee orientation and the on-boarding process; acts as the administrator for the College's requiredtraining programs (both classroom-based and online); andconducts training. Other duties include developing,planning and communicating employee engagement and recognitionprograms and events to staff. This individual serves onappropriate committees and performs other duties as assigned bythe Director for Human Resources and Employee Development.This is an exempt, professional staffposition.Abachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience arerequired; an associate's degree with significant HR experience,certification, and/or training may be considered. Candidates must haveexperience and expertise in managing complex employee relationsissues; knowledge of all applicable employment laws andregulations (EEO, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, UI); experience with employeedevelopment (orientation, on-boarding, training systems); theability to manage 3rd party supported systems; and thecreativity and communication skills to implement employeeengagement strategies.
