For more information about GMS, visit www.gms.com or any one of our subsidiary company websites.Summary of Position:The Assistant Yard Safety & Fleet Manager will be responsible for the successful day-to-day management, administration, and reporting of all safety t activities at one of our distribution centers. This position will also include the responsibility of providing operation support to the operations team.Safety Management Duties & Responsibilities: Monitors Department of Transportation hours-of-service logs, mileage sheets, boom inspections sheets, and forklift inspection sheets.Reviews and maintains Department of Transportation commercial motor vehicle qualification files.Reviews and maintains fleet, crane, and forklift maintenance files.Reviews and maintains equipment operator files.Performs regular job site safety inspections.Prepares and administers weekly safety meetings using a provided safety curriculum.Updates employee certification and compliance spreadsheet. Purchases and maintains inventory on all delivery safety equipment.Performs safety inspections on all delivery equipment on a monthly basis (fall protection, material handling carts, pallet jacks, etc.).Monitors the Driver's Alert Program for fleet. Schedules all truck, crane, and forklift maintenance.Performs all operator safety evaluations for equipment operators.Investigate & manage all auto, GL, and workman's compensation claims.Operation Management Duties & Responsibilities: Answers operational related phone calls, interact with customers and venders.Assists in operational inventory management, such as cycle counts, control damaged materials, and material purchasing.Assists the operations team in dispatching of delivery trucks using our delivery management system while also assessing DOT, OSHA and company safety regulations in order to optimize delivery schedulesAssist in checking the accuracy of outbound and inbound shipments.Requirements:Safety Management degree preferredExperience in the construction industryUnderstanding and application of OHSA regulationsCompany Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance401kPaid holidays & vacation days Launch your career with a national building materials distributor and discover opportunities for growth and advancement.
