Family Preservation Services, Inc. is seeking counselors to work part-time (20-24 hours) in the Frederick, Clarke County and Winchester City Virginia areas within the Head Start Program. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services field with significant clinical experience in working with children; early childhood experience preferred. Hourly rate between $17-19/hour depending on education and experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTSCounselors must be present in the school with clients during school hours.Provide crisis intervention and concurrent treatment to youth in school setting as needed to foster positive behavior in the classroom.Provide family counseling and case management as needed to encourage parental participation in the youth's life. Educate family members regarding daily progress of youth, mental health issues, existing community services, and act as an advocate in connecting family members to these services.Work with assigned clients to foster the development of new coping, problem solving, and communication skills at age appropriate levels.Actively participate in the development of individualized service plans in conjunction with school personnel, social services professionals, assigned client(s) and their families.Implement services plans and monitor and report progress.Educate family members regarding daily progress of youth, mental health issues, existing community services, and act as an advocate in connecting family members to these services.Provide support as requested to TDT Coordinator in the event of a client or family crisis.Complete and maintain up-to-date client records according to FPS standards, and prepare the necessary reports and file the client documents in a timely and accurate manner.Schedule, attend and actively participate in clinical supervision once a week.Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with other community agencies.Participate in school functions; attend school meetings, and other community meetings as required. Serve as an FPS Ambassador in the school, and work cooperatively and collaboratively with all school personnel.Provide transportation to clients when necessary which requires that the employee have a valid, non-restricted driver's license and reliable transportation.Cooperatively participate in your own re-assignment to a different classroom, school site, or county as deemed necessary by: FPS leadership due to school request or other relevant factors.Serve as a behavioral model to the clients you serve in the Day Treatment program by consistently being present at school according to the school's hours of operations.Perform other duties as assigned and necessary.Performance and Conduct Requirements of Position:You are required to consistently follow the conduct policies and daily operating procedures of your assigned school.QUALIFICATIONSTo qualify as a QMHP to provide Day Treatment for Children and Adolescents under 21, the employee must, at time of hire, have the designated clinical experience and must: be a physician;orhave master's degree in psychology from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience;orhave a social work bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience with children or adolescents;orbe a registered nurse with at least one year of clinical experience with children and adolescents;orhave at least a bachelor's degree in a human services field or in special education from an accredited college and with at least one year of clinical experience with children and adolescents.Clinical Experience means providing direct behavioral health services to children and adolescents with mental illness.
