Underwriting Manager II
General SummaryLead Underwriting Team by servicing existing accounts and generating new business. Drive production and operational efficiency within each business segment and manage underwriting authority and/or program relationships, to comply with program and company standards. Essential FunctionsSets operational model and underwriting strategy and clarifies course of action to senior management. Maintains production, loss ratio and servicing standards prescribed by underwriting authority contracts and corporate standards. Sets leadership and direction of unit for profitable growth. Underwrites, rates risks, and communicates quotes to Producers, securing the best terms and conditions for more complex accounts and offers expertise to resolve underwriting issues. Must be familiar with state laws for the states in which business is written to ensure proper handling of surplus line taxes in a timely manner. Responsible for training, coaching and development of underwriting staff. Responsible for regular and ad hoc reports to Underwriting or program authorities and corporate staff. Minimum 10 years of insurance related experience, professional liability preferred. Professional designation desired (CPCU, ARM, etc.) Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations Strong analytical and judgment skills; excellent problem solving ability College degree, preferably in insurance or business administration / Insurance designations Experience supervising and developing staffVictor O.
