General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an Oracle System Administrator in support of a Federal Intelligence Agency contract.  In addition to receiving a competitive salary and generous health and personal benefits, the Oracle System Administrator will enhance their skill set among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues.  The individual will be managing a group of computers that comprise the Database as a Service Architecture (Linux, Exadata, ODA, Oracle Vault).  

 

This will include Sys Admins duties such as:

  • Manages the functionality and efficiency of the operating systems of a group of computers that comprise the Database as a Service Architecture (Linux, Exadata, ODA, Oracle Vault).
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
  • Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.
  • Evaluate and assess IAVA compliance and employ mitigations. 
  • Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems, patches,  and systems enhancements.
  • Perform system administration
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts.
  • Maintain backups and perform recovery as required.

  • Familiar with, and be able to understand, the following management and monitoring commands on the specified systems.
    • On the compute nodes (database nodes):
      • Linux: top , mpstat , vmstat , iostat , fdisk , ustat , sar , sysinfo
      • Exadata: dcli ASM: asmcmd , asmca Clusterware: crsctl , srvctl
    • On the storage servers/cells:
      • Linux: top , mpstat , vmstat , iostat , fdisk , ustat , sar , sysinfo
      • Cell management: cellcli , cellsrvstat
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience such as:

  • Demonstrated Operations experience with Linux platform (i.e. RHEL, CentOS) including administration, management, and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of proactive monitoring concepts
  • Experience with patching and maintaining server builds
  • Ability to develop and maintain capacity metric
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following infrastructure principles:     
    • Scalability and Capacity planning
    • Data center organization
    • Backup/Recovery
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues, restore the environment to an operational state with minimal downtime, perform root cause analysis and provide a forward leaning mitigation strategy
