JOB SUMMARY:

About the Agency

This position is located in the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Finance and Accountability Branch in Silver Spring, MD.

This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.

The ZA-5 is equivalent to the GS-15.

This position is also announced under vacancy number NESDIS-2017-0049, which is open to status candidates. You must apply to both announcements if you want to be considered for both.

*A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    To qualify at the ZA-4 or GS-15 level:

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-4 or GS-15 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:

    • Supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to resource planning and budget execution; and
    • Supporting all phases of budgetary and financial management process, including preparing annual financial plans, providing financial audit support, performing multi-year resource planning and development, and conducting analysis and risk mitigation reviews.
