Plans and directs capital renewal and non-capital projects and construction activities for one or more of the following fields: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, conveying systems (elevator, escalator), life safety systems, and/or building envelope systems as well as, site civil elements. Primary responsibilities are to ensure the timely completion of projects assigned consistent with quality standards of the Facilities Management Department (FMD) and industry standards, as well as, ensuring projects are financially and operationally viable and completed in a cost-efficient manner. Serves as a technical expert for the full performance level of commercial building electrical and life safety systems construction project management work including but not limited to large commercial critical backup system generators and ancillary equipment. Considered emergency essential. Flexible working schedule is required as well as overtime, call-back and on-call.Employment Standards
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental or life sciences, construction management, business administration, facilities management or related; plus four years of progressively responsible experience in the supervision or management of construction or maintenance projects, including at least two years of experience in contract administration.
Successful completion of the Project Manager Development Program and three years in the Assistant Project Manager Class.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A valid driver's license.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2014 and MS Project. Five (5) plus years electrical project manager experience replacing large commercial critical backup system generators and ancillary equipment. Possession of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Master Electrician license. Strong written and verbal skills.
Must be able to access facility equipment and equipment rooms. Must be able to communicate by phone. Must be mobile. Ability to climb ladders, access tight spaces, crawl, reach, lift and push up to 25 pounds. Dexterity to use hand tools. Vision to see detail drawings, construction and discern color.
