Senior Engineering Inspector (Utility Design and Construction Division)
Participates in the performance of all aspects of quality assurance inspections of capital projects. This includes all phases of inspections on street and secondary road improvements, parking lots, trails, bridges, traffic signal systems, stormwater and sanitary improvements, trench safety, as well as general site inspections with emphasis on erosion and siltation control, and related improvements to facilities construction projects. Performs measurements, recording and calculation of all quantities of pay items, and keeps a daily record of contractor's progress in order to process monthly payment requests. Performs related duties as assigned.

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or GED; and three years of construction experience, preferably in the inspection field.
At least five years of experience in the inspection of public works construction projects. Knowledge of VDOT and county construction standards. Knowledge of OSHA construction safety standards. VDOT certification in concrete, asphalt, and soil/aggregate.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A valid driver's license is required.
Possession of a valid Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Certification or the ability to obtain same within 18 months of appointment date is required.
Completion of the first required training class (Basic Storm Water Management in Virginia) within 6 months of appointment and possession of a valid Storm Water Management Project Inspector certification within 24 months from the date of completion of the first required training class is required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
With or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment; ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance; ability to walk/traverse rough, icy, broken terrain; and go up and down steep hills and slopes; ability to work in extreme temperatures.
