Sr. Health & Benefit Consultant
The Senior Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant will lead consulting engagements for large employers regarding their medical, dental, life and disability benefit plans and programs and negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors to secure health and welfare plan coverage for these employers. Level of support provided depends on size of client as well as complexity and revenue of the account - at this level the senior consultant is the client lead and is often the Mercer relationship manager. To fulfill this role, the Senior Consultant will\:Lead complex client engagements, including managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking and other studiesDevelop sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drives the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issuesDetermine the full scope of services provided to the client and sets roles/responsibilities within the client teamEffectively communicate Mercer's position on latest industry trends to clientsBe accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projectsMonitor success of projects in terms of scope, budget, timeliness and client satisfactionUse appropriate Mercer tools (eg, HBB) in the development and execution of client strategyIncorporate compliance and professional standards into all work processes, including transparency, AFG, peer review and maintaining required licensureGenerate sales by expanding revenues from existing clients and by leading prospecting efforts with new clientsSet strategic direction and create demand for new products/services in the marketplaceLead and participate in new business opportunities with sales channel partnersCross-sell other Mercer and Marsh and McLennan Companies products and services to clientsBuild market presence by leading and presenting at industry seminars and conferencesLead successful regional or national marketing initiativesEstablish effective carrier/vendor relationships to serve clients in benefits procurement and administration (eligibility, claims, billing, plan implementation, contracts, plan changes and necessary amendmentsLeverage Mercer's size and reputation to negotiate highly competitive rates and coverage options from carriers and vendorsLeverage work to the most appropriate career level/gradeDelegate effectively to provide developmental opportunities to team members while providing mentoring and coaching to direct reports and project team membersBA/BS degree Completion of continuing education to maintain credentials as requiredState Health and Life Insurance Licenses required15 years experience in identifying, designing, recommending and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefits challengesRenowned expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits fieldStrong, innovative sales and marketing skills plus the ability to market organizational strengths successfullySuperior analytical and mathematical skills, strategic planning, communication, and listening skillsExcellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple and complex tasks in a demanding work environmentStrong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skillsProven management skills in leading large, complex projectsAbility to manage, motivate, and mentor more junior level staffAt Mercer, we make a difference in the lives of more than 110 million people every day by advancing their health, wealth, and careers.
