The mission of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is to serve Congress and the Supreme Court, preserve America's Capitol and inspire memorable experiences. Under the leadership of Stephen T.   • You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.     Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.

    For the GS-07, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level as defined below:

    • Experience providing logistical and support services in an education and/or training program, scheduling training events and facilities and assisting in education institution registration requirements in a public, private or non-profit agency/organization.
    • Various automation equipment/systems experience sufficient to input, maintain, store and retrieve data. Knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics and functions of a variety of types of office automation software such as SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Exchange, and their integration.
    • Experience communicating orally and in writing with a diverse group of individuals including populations from educationally disadvantaged or vocationally underdeveloped to college graduates. Experience in interpersonal relations.
    For the GS-08, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. The following examples of specialized experience are in addition to experience defined above.
    • Experience with computer-based and/or other distance learning training programs.
    • Experience performing administrative functions in various Learning Management Systems (LMS).

    NOTE: Graduate education and a combination of graduate education and experience may be used as a substitute for the required specialized experience.

    GS-07: Completion of at least one (1) year of graduate level education (18 semester/27 quarter hours) in courses that were specifically designed as career preparation for the work of the position to be filled and that provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities to do the work. Such courses include study in education, grammar and composition, speech, psychology, guidance, sociology or social and behavioral sciences.

    GS-08: Completion of at least three (3) semesters of graduate level education in courses as defined above.
