The Office of Inspector General (OIG) offers you the opportunity to become a part of one of the most challenging and important missions facing the country today. The OIG ensures that all DHS programs and operations are carried out in the most effective, efficient and economical manner by conducting independent audits, inspections and evaluations, and investigations.   • For all IT positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

    3.     In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirements above you qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equal to or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. Examples of specialized experience includes: creating extracting, transforming, loading, and enhancing objects to ingest structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources; Implementing, maintaining and optimizing data warehouses; and Gathering and implementing user requirements.

    Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum and basic qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position: Experience writing and executing scripts or programs using one or more of the following languages to acquire and manipulate data: Python, Java, .NET, Bash, Powershell, JavaScript, Scala, Spark, or MapReduce.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The qualification requirements listed above must be met by 06/30/2017of this announcement.

    The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

    Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a drug test to screen for illegal drug use. A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.
