The Hughes Large Enterprise North America Division is seeking a Principal Sales Engineer to support Fortune 1000 companies.

The position will require participation as a technical member of the Enterprise sales team for Hughes’ Managed Network Solutions and development of technical solutions and strategies for wide-scale distributed networks and value added services including security, VoIP, Wi-Fi and digital media.  This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a technical resource for sales representatives and alliances team
  • Design & architect communication networks using Hughes technology platforms and service offerings (Wireline, Wireless & Satellite)
  • Develop and apply value added services to proposals (Security, VoIP, W-Fi, Digital Media)
  • Manage the development of the pricing for the customer based on the tailored solutions
  • Complete RFP/RFI documents submitted by potential clients, with particular attention to technical and advanced product questions, under tight deadlines on a regular basis
  • Provide assistance to help potential clients overcome technical questions, barriers, and architectural hurdles
  • Give technical and development advice to the sales team and to potential clients including product configuration and general guidance
  • Serve as a Hughes product expert, providing system engineering and system architecture best practices and techniques, both internally and externally
  • Help lead the development of proof of concepts/pilot efforts
  • Participate in road shows, conferences, and different forms of Hughes evangelism


  • Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of overall experience in IT industry
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience developing and enhancing client relationships
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to audiences
  • Ability to make good business judgment, make decisions, and a passion for excellence
  • Enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences
  • Possess excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly
  • MBA Preferred
