Product Development SpecialistBasic Responsibilities:Provide product design, development, and maintenance support, assisting in maintaining uniformity and consistency in product design across programs, and in maintaining and communicating applicable/required forms, endorsements, rates, rules within company to ensure compliance with carrier filings and state regulations.Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of five (5) years work experience in a property and casualty insurance company, insurance brokerage firm, insurance agency, or consulting state filings department. Advanced insurance training completed, CPCU preferred. Must have advanced knowledge of, and experience with, commercial property and casualty insurance products and a good working knowledge of ISO products, forms, endorsements, manuals, and rules for all property and casualty commercial lines of business. Experience with independently drafting proprietary coverage forms, endorsements, policy declarations, rules, and underwriting guidelines. Experience with responding to insurance department filing questions preferred. Extensive knowledge of insurance department rules and regulations governing coverage forms, endorsements, rates, rules, and policy declarations. Extensive experience using Word and Excel software. Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professional demeanor and approach in the performance of duties. Must possess initiative to work independently without frequent supervisory involvement. Must be computer literate and have the ability to work in a closed environment without regular interaction with fellow associates. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Qualifications: Equipped with good communication skills to effectively coordinate and communicate with various levels of associates and insurance company partners. Strong verbal and grammatical ability required to draft and explain coverage forms, endorsements, rules, policy declarations, and underwriting guidelines. Ability to quickly understand new insurance products and product changes. Detail oriented, must possess ability to pay close attention to detail and proofread documents. Possess high organizational skills and have the ability to set and adjust priorities. Ability to function as a team player and work closely with Corporate Product Development Manager, Program Managers, Program Operations Services, Actuarial, Customer Applications, Business Systems, and carrier underwriting, product development, and state filings departments. Ability to make decisions within scope of authority. Functions: Assists Program Managers in drafting and designing new or revised forms, endorsements, policy declarations, and underwriting guidelines. Prepares draft responses to inquiries to respond to insurance department inquiries/objections within required time frame. Assists Corporate Product Development Manager and Program Managers in maintaining as much uniformity and consistency in our products across programs as possible. Provides due diligence support during review of potential new Programs. Reviews ISO circulars and other regulatory material for impact on programs. Develops and revises state amendatory endorsements and policyholder notices to support compliance with state regulations. Proofreads product development material. Develops associated explanatory memorandums. Assists Program Managers in evaluating impacts of statutory and industry changes on each program Manages the tracking and communication of carrier and ISO activity with relation to rates, rules, forms and endorsements. Stays abreast of state insurance department rules and regulations including their changes and addresses issues involving insurance department compliance. Reviews UM/UIM statutory changes, determines impact on auto, and updates the UM/UIM procedures chart to assure compliance. Acting as the expert, handles inquiries from ICO associates regarding forms. Participates in Product Development projects as assigned by Corporate Product Development Manager. see job description
