The Manager of Benefits is responsible for administration of employee benefits in all company operations. This individual will provide special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans, and is specifically charged with merging the benefit plans of groups that are acquired. He/she will also develop, recommend, and implement approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefit policies, and supervise administration of existing plans. The Manager of Benefits plays a key role in the ongoing functionality of the HRIS and in maximizing the technological resources within the HR department. Administers employee benefits programs including but not limited to retirement, medical, dental, life insurance, and disability. Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing plans, participating in area and industry surveys, and developing specific recommendations for review by management. Develops census data and coordinates with broker for quotations. Evaluates quotations and makes recommendations to management regarding cost sharing between employer and employee. Installs approved new plans and changes by clear communication with employees through written materials, associate meetings. Arranges for enrollment of associates in and conducts benefit seminars for acquisition groups. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance with benefit plans. Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and IRS Section 125. Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinates company benefits with government sponsored programs. Assures that existing and new benefit programs are adaptable to standardized HRIS guidelines. Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution. Communicates with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees. Supervises maintenance of enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans. Ensures all benefit deductions are setup for new hires and those with qualifying events. During annual enrollment, ensures that all new deductions are imported into the payroll system in a timely manner. Supervises the COBRA enrollment process, answers inquiries, and follows up with vendors. Assist accounting department with review of payroll prior to processing. Ensure all acquisition associates are compensated appropriately and deductions are taken properly. A bachelor's degree and five (5) years experience in benefits administration, OR a master's degree in Human Resource Management and four (4) years experience in Benefits Administration, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, executives and vendors. Knowledge of federal & state regulations pertaining to benefits and compensation structure and design. Working knowledge of HRIS and related reporting. Mathematical aptitude and analysis skills. Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail, follow-up and problem resolution. Some travel may be required.
