JOB SUMMARY:

About the Agency

This position is part of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency. As a INSIDER THREAT SPECIALIST, your position will be located in:

The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and for Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities"). This includes addressing the full spectrum of threats to the Pentagon Facilities by utilizing a balanced strategy of prevention, preparedness, detection, response, crisis management, and consequence management. The PFPA is the DoD focal point for coordination with other DoD components, other Executive Departments and Federal agencies, state, and local authorities on matters involving force protection,, security, and law enforcement activities, that impact the Pentagon Facilities.

This position is located in the Special Program Branch (SPB), Assistant Director for Threat Management PFPA. The SPB is responsible for providing law enforcement and force protection capability to detect, mitigate, neutralize, and/or report suspicious activities.

The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement, as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD-leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities"). This includes addressing the full spectrum of potential threats through robust prevention, preparedness, detection, and response measures. PFPA uses an integrated approach to perform its critical mission, bringing together functions such as chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection and response, law enforcement, physical security, anti-terrorism/force protection, and surveillance detection. PFPA operates in an environment that requires close coordination between multiple local, state and Federal agencies.

  • You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: 1) applying source intelligence support collecting and analyzing to a range of topics to include Anti-Terrorism Force protection, Security (e.g., Personnel, Industrial, Information, Physical, operations, Information Systems and Foreign Disclosure, and Sensitive Compartmented Information), in order to provide technical advice and guidance to mitigate insider threats; and 2) collecting and analyzing operational and strategic intelligence data from a wide variety of sources including, Federal, State, local law enforcement agencies, military departments and private sector in order to prevent, deter, and mitigate insider threat.

    You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: 1) applying knowledge of a r range of law enforcement, intelligence security, insider threat program disciplines to conduct insider threat analysis, identify intelligence gaps and recommend countermeasures to prevent, deter, detect, and mitigate actions; 2) applying source intelligence support collecting and analyzing to a range of topics to include Anti-Terrorism Force protection, Security (e.g., Personnel, Industrial, Information, Physical, operations, Information Systems and Foreign Disclosure, and Sensitive Compartmented Information), in order to provide technical advice and guidance to mitigate insider threats; 3) applying deductive and inductive analytical techniques and strategies to plan, organize, and complete protective intelligence research projects and data collection on security and insider threat.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
