Fiscal Assistant (Part-Time)

The George Mason University Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a part-time Fiscal Assistant. Responsibilities: This position is critical to the overall effectiveness of the Office of the Vice President and all other units within Communications and Marketing. The Fiscal Assistant will provide support necessary to run the division efficiently. Responsibilities include: * Assist in conducting monthly budget reconciliations and in the preparation of budget reports; * Maintain an organized and confidential records management system; and * Assist as needed with general and special projects.

Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated understanding of general accounting principles and fiscal processes; * Exceptional computer and technical skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; * Strong ability to manage multiple projects and ensure deadlines are met; * Excellent organizational skills, with close attention to detail; * Exhibits excellent communications skills and attention to detail; * Proven ability to adjust to new priorities and demands; * Proven ability to work independently and take direction from others; and * Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications: * Associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and MicroStrategy is highly desirable; * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; * Prior experience working a state agency is highly desired; and * Prior experience in higher education.
