Position Summary:

The Research Analyst works directly under the Research Director to assist in all stages of the research process, including questionnaire design, analysis of the survey findings, and drafting report content. The Research Analyst will provide input in the analysis decisions for PRRI’s major reports, including the development of scales and other types of analyses where appropriate. This position will also be responsible for regularly contributing to PRRI’s blog by offering new insights and analysis from recent PRRI surveys. The Research Analyst will also take the lead in responding to media requests, producing toplines and banners, and number-checking all PRRI’s research products.

Responsibilities:

  • Research & Analysis (60%):
    • Coordinate number-checking and fact-checking all research products
    • Conduct literature review and background research for academic presentations and projects
    • Assist with questionnaire development
    • Construct survey toplines and banners
    • Conduct custom analyses in response to media requests
    • Manage data collection process
    • Develop charts and Excel graphics for reports and presentations
  • Editorial (40%):
    • Draft original content for PRRI’s blog
    • Assist with writing content for all PRRI publications, including research reports, scholarly articles, and other writing tasks as assigned
    • Review all research content to ensure accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience conducting and analyzing public opinion research
  • Bachelor’s degree in survey research, political science, sociology, statistics, or related field
  • Strong quantitative and statistical skills, including experience with SPSS, Stata, and other statistical tools
  • Strong editorial judgement and exceptional ability to communicate research and survey results clearly and concisely to lay audience
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including chart design and creation
