Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 This position supports the United States Army Special Operations Command, (USASOC) as part of the Component Network Control Center, (CNCC). Primary responsibilities are: 
  1. Management and maintenance of SolarWinds and Orion network monitoring systems in support of USASOC.
  2. Maintain accurate reporting analytics, logical diagrams, network configuration, and reporting data.
  3. Coordination across multiple sites with network engineers and support staff to maintain accurate reporting metrics.
  4. Quality checks and pull data analytics to provide trending and forecast potential risks.
  5. Performs systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

  6. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

  7. Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.

  8. Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.

  9. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

  10. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves operating/hardware system problems.

  11. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

  12. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

Additional responsibilities are:

 

  1. SharePoint and Portal Management
  2. Management and maintenance of network monitoring tools.

  3. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

  4. Participates in special projects as required.
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 

DoD 8570.1 Level 2 technical or management certification.

Qualifications  

 
  1. 2-5 years of related systems engineering experience.

  2. Minimum 2 years networking/network engineering experience

  3. Strong troubleshooting background in computer hardware, communications equipment, LAN.

  4. At least one industry certification in related field (MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, etc are preferred).

  5. DoD 8570.1 Level 2 technical or management certification
