The OSP/ISP Engineer provides engineering and technical expertise on structured cabling and infrastructure pathway installation projects. Surveys facilities and designs site specific schematics; bill of materials; and subsequent construction drawings (floor plans; room plans; and rack elevation/equipment drawings). Prepares documentation as required for submission of a complete package; (e.g. Statement of Work; Implementation Schedule; detailed material list). Analyze building floor plan diagrams; engineering drawings; and technical specifications to plan; coordinate; and carryout the installation activities outlined in site-specific installation plans. Activities include installation of backboards; electrical metal tubing; raceway; ladder racks; equipment cabinets; inner duct; equipment grounding; premise copper and fiber optic cabling; fiber optic and distribution panels. Installs; tests; and turn-up of Ethernet; SONET; and electronic router systems. Determination of system integration requirements; coordinates and implements voice; video and data systems cutover to include integration with existing systems. Perform and document testing for copper and fiber optic structured cabling systems. Evaluate subcontractor performance with compliance to specifications; and provide recommendations for process or task improvement. Control and document the expenditure of project logistic support materials. Documents redline changes to engineering drawings; managing the change control process; and provide as-built drawings and test data for the finished project. Education Bachelor's Degree in Telecomm Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of training; certifications; work and/or military experience. Qualifications 3-5 years of related network engineering and installation experience. Proficient in MS Word; Excel; and Visio software. In-depth knowledge of Commercial Standards; Telcordia (formally Bellcore); RUS; BICSI; and military specifications applicable to the contract. Experience with US Air Force telecomm and data networks is a plus. Must be able to identify out of life cycle network equipment and upgrade the outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) fiber optic cable infrastructure. Design an inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) distribution infrastructure to meet current industry standards. Develop a statement of work (SOW) for the construction of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) infrastructures. Develop a list of material (LOM) for the outside plant; inside plant infrastructure and networking equipment. Provide GIS information to coordinate the installation of both direct buried and directional bore drilling of outside plant infrastructure. Develop and maintain schedules to meet critical timelines for the installation and migration of the new networking equipment to the base network infrastructure with minimal downtime and service interruptions. Provide QA/QC and maintain the red line drawings for the overall installation of the inside plant (ISP) infrastructure.
