Mission Statement
The Joint Staff supports the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), who by law is the Principal Military Advisor to the President of the United States (POTUS) and the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF), in performing his statutory duties of providing military advice and recommendations to the POTUS and SECDEF; assisting the POTUS and SECDEF in carrying out their command functions; providing for the strategic direction of the U.S. Armed Forces; and overseeing the activities of the combatant commands.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210 series:  Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

    GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

    You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.  Experience must be reflected in your resume.


    Specialized experience required for this position is:

    • Experience with Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) process in order to incorporate into Enterprise Business Accountability System (EBAS) to ensure audit readiness.
    • Experience with DoD and non-DoD agency policies and standards in order to develop guidelines for intra-agency use by combining the technical aspects of system software with application programs.
    • Experience with IT cybersecurity concepts, principles, practices and security controls in order to oversee development and implementation strategies for IT system vulnerabilities, security assessments and authorization requirements.
    • Experience providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists who are internal and external to an organization on critical IT issues.

    Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

    1. Knowledge of IT programs pertaining to Cybersecurity
    2. Financial personnel responsibilities
    3. Personal Contacts

    Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level.
