Mathematician (Program Director)
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Program Director in the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS), Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS), Arlington, VA.
DMS supports research at the frontiers of discovery that achieves NSF’s mission “to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense.” Modes of support include awards to individual investigators and small groups, workforce training grants, and a portfolio of national mathematical sciences research institutes. The Division supports research in core areas of mathematics and statistics as well as interdisciplinary research that crosses traditional boundaries of the physical, biological, social, and engineering sciences. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the mathematics or a closely related subject, and plus after award of the Ph.D., six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the program.
This position is outside the competitive civil service.
