Associate Director, Alumni Engagement and Volunteer Programs
The Associate Director of Alumni Relations is an essential member of UMBC's creative and dynamic alumni and development team dedicated to fostering strong ties between the University and its 72,000+ alumni. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, the incumbent will be responsible for building relationships with alumni and for promoting alumni volunteer and engagement opportunities. Specific duties include: development of our alumni volunteer and engagement pathways (attend, give, hire, update, share, volunteer); manage and administer and affinity based grant programs; develop alumni volunteerism and engagement tracking systems; liaise and collaborate with campus offices such as the career center and admissions to develop alumni engagement opportunities; support the work of the alumni board; manage growing alumni communities and affinity groups; work with director on creating and implementing strategic direction for alumni relations; develop and administer volunteer retention strategies; lead and or support signature events such as the alumni awards and homecoming; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and three years alumni relations, development or related experience preferably in a higher education or similarly complex organization. Strong volunteer management experience strongly desired. The candidate must have: excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills; creative program planning abilities; the ability to motivate and work effectively with groups and individuals and the ability to manage tasks, deadlines and changing priorities. Must be a quick-learner, self-starter, and have the ability to adapt to a fast paced, multi-faceted and dynamic organization. This position will require occasional evening and weekend hours for alumni meetings and events.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
