To that end, Erickson Living is currently searching a Legal Counsel to support the Associate General Counsel, General Counsel and others in specific functional areas concerning the legal affairs of the Company and supported companies. The position requires independent support of the director level staff at the communities and the more senior level members of the corporate staff. The Counsel Job Duties and Responsibilities Include: As assigned, manage independently within the legal policy guidelines, the legal issues arising from a functional activity of the company or for a community. Examples of these types of areas of responsibility which may arise are as follows:Provide legal support for the acquisition and development of a new community, including by way of example, the acquisition agreement and the structuring documents for the community and providers and development contracts.Support the IT and Procurement Departments in the review of contracts. Review and draft services contracts, professional services agreements, renovation contracts and subleases for operating communities.Provide comprehensive legal advice to a community. Provide legal research and advice concerning state law for CCRC regulatory requirements, submit required regulatory filings, and draft resident documents in compliance with these requirements. Act as the direct liaison with outside counsel on a matter of pending litigation or threatened litigation to manage the cost of such litigation and to provide for the best possible chance to procure a positive result in such a matter.Skillfully manages multiple priorities and projects to meet deadlines and achieve client satisfaction.Negotiate key legal provisions in contracts with vendorsDetermine appropriate legal risk to be taken to assist clients with business decisionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
