And start doing your life's best work.(sm) The Vice President of STARs serves as the business owner responsible for leading STARS strategy across Care Services. This person will lead the end to end strategy including clinical execution of programs and measurement of clinical effectiveness of deployed programs designed to improve HEDIS and STARS ratings and gap closure for HouseCalls and Complex Care Management. Position Responsibilities:Development and implementation of STARs clinical programs for Optum Care Analyze program effectiveness and capture ROI and/or impact by programs for HEDIS and STARS Work across the business to assure alignment with clinical leadership Serve as the business owner for this program and directs strategic and operational plans to achieve quality targets Direct management oversight for Care Services deployed programs, including vendor managed programs Focus on inter-segment coordination and cooperation to ensure timely and effective decision making on key issues Act as a key resource to the Care Services Leadership team in identification and development of operational improvements, strategic planning, projects and consulting assignments as they relate to the quality program Manage and evaluate projects progress and results to determine improvements required to meet ultimate financial and timeline targets Build and maintain alliances with internal and external customers, business partners, consultants, to meet/exceed business objectives Executive presence and communication capabilities Superior planning and strong problem solving skills that enable quick identification and efficient resolution of issues Highly collaborative individual with ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships Understanding of the financial principles and operations of the business and able to drive profitability Business focus - understanding of company's vision mission and strategy to achieve long and short-term goals Proven success in improved performance in leading a large functionally aligned business segment/area Commitment to anticipating, understanding and meeting the needs of internal and external customers Model ethics and integrity Strong leadership skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Empowers and motivates others Serves as a strong coach and fosters career development of others. Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staffRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required Licensed Registered Nurse or clinical degree strongly preferred5+ years of significant leadership experience at a Director level or above 3+ years of HEDIS/STARS experience Clinical program development and execution experience Strong process and project management skills Demonstrated ability to set strategic direction, develop tactical plans and drive performance Prior experience in statistical analysis and methods a plus Excellent written and oral communication skills with internal and external business partners and employees Strong influencing and negotiation skills Strong independent decision maker and risk taker Demonstrated staff development skills Strong team building, collaboration and motivational skillsUnitedHealth Group is working to create the health care system of tomorrow.
