The Target Community and Educational Services, Inc. and McDaniel College Master's Program is a two-year, live-in program where graduate students manage one of Target's Alternative Living Units (ALUs) while attending classes at McDaniel College two evenings a week to earn their MSDegree in Human Services Management. Target, Inc. and McDaniel are located in Westminster, Maryland, with additional placements in Gaithersburg, MD.Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. is a non-profit agency providing residential, vocational, educational and recreational services to adults with developmental disabilities. In Target's Community Living Program, we currently have nine ALUs or homes and a separate Apartment Program. Each home is managed by two Community Living Managers who live in their own private apartment during their two year graduate program. Each ALU is a custom-built home built to accommodate three clients with disabilities (who live in the main part of the home) and two graduate students (who live in their own private, two-bedroom apartment within the home). Each graduate student works about 40 hours per week in the home and supervise Community Living Assistants (CLAs) who assist them with providing appropriate care and services to our clients living in the home. All of our clients attend day programs outside of the home. The graduate program at McDaniel College has 22 scholarship positions with about half of these students graduating each May. Graduation ends the internship and commitment with Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. Thus, we offer about eleven new scholarship each year for participation in this program. After interviewing and visiting our programs, qualified candidates are offered one of these positions. Candidates with all undergraduate degrees are considered, especially those with degrees in Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Business majors are also invited to apply. Upon acceptance into the program, all arrangements and registration with McDaniel College are guided by Dr. Tom Zirpoli, Dean of Graduate Programs and Studies at McDaniel College and President of Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. who also serves at the academic advisor for the program.Benefits: Target pays 75 percent of each student's tuition. Each student also receives a $20,000 stipend per year, free room and board, and health care benefits.
