Monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients in special care unit of hospital, to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment. Reviews patient information, to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances. Observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm, to identify abnormal variations in heart rhythm. Informs nurse of variances, to initiate examination of patient. Measures length and height of patient heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout, using calipers, and posts information on patient record. Provides accurate and timely interpretation and dissemination of information to critical care staff members and other members of health care team, related to patient cardiac rhythms as per cardiac monitoring. Promotes and supports all standards of quality and customer service. Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and job performance. Supports Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.
Minimum Licensure & Certification Required (if applicable):
1. Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Six months of experience performing rhythm strip interpretation.
3. Ability to communicate and work with medical professionals.
4. Any equivalent combination of education and work experience, to provide comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.
5. Leadership ability, and human relations and organizational skills.
6. Must have visual accuracy at all ranges, color/depth perception and field of vision.
