Position Purpose:Job Description Details:

General Summary:

  • Manages the nutrition care of critically ill patients as well of other patients who rely on artificial nutrition support (enteral and parenteral nutrition). Provides nutrition expertise to physicians and other health professionals.
  • Participates in activities that encompasses interdisciplinary care including interdisciplinary rounds, Performance Improvement, provision of nutrition education in the area of nutrition support for the medical and support staff, patient, family.
  • Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required; including, if appropriate, minimum licensure and certification.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics, or Food and Nutrition from an accredited institution.
  • Certified in nutrition support (CNSC) by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
  • Active registration status with American Dietetic Association
  • Licensed or in the process of becoming licensed in the state of Maryland.¬† (Includes 15 credit hours every year of continuing education).
  • Displays strong communication skills and ability to interact in a positive manner with physicians, patients, and families and other hospital staff.
  • Ability to manage complex patients and able to incorporate information provided by all disciplines to aid in decision¬† making for nutrition support.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle confidential information and situations. Minimum one year of experience in nutrition support.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English with understanding.
