    You must have one year Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private/military sector) giving the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.  Experience must be reflected in your resume.

    Specialized experience required for this position is: Experience is defined as resolving complex  issues dealing with travel, equipment, personnel, material, and infrastructure to support the agency-wide legislative and public affairs programs.

    Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

    1. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable DoD and legislative processes, policies, regulations and directives in order to effectively forecast program requirements to support the Agency and coordinate/develop materials to provide status or defend existing Agency programs and budgets.

    2. Effective communication skills for speaking and writing in a manner that meets the needs and expectations of a wide variety of audiences internal and external to the Agency including Senior Leaders, employees, congressional staffers, news media personnel and the public.

    3. Comprehensive knowledge of the range of business and administrative laws, policies, regulations and precedents applicable to the administration of resource-related processes.

    Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level.
