About the Agency

The NSF is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Program Director position in the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL), Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR), Arlington, VA. The ideal candidate should have expertise in research and development in informal learning environments such as museums, aquariums, or community based organizations.

The incumbent for this Program Director position will primarily work in the Advancing Informal Science Learning (AISL) and the Innovative Technology Experiences for Teachers and Students (ITEST) programs. Both of these programs support research and development in informal learning environments such as museums, libraries and community based organizations, with a broadening participation emphasis.

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed. D. in an appropriate field related to STEM learning in informal settings plus after award of the Ph.D. or Ed. D.., six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience in supporting learning in informal settings.

    This position is not in the competitive service.

    The individual selected must be able to interact on a peer basis with senior scientific and managerial personnel throughout NSF, other Federal agencies, academia, and the private sector. The ability to build bridges with the NSF Directorates is a necessity in order to help coordinate education efforts.
