Assistant Director of Admissions & Director of Campus Programs - Office of Undergraduate Admissions

The Assistant Director of Admissions & Director of Campus Programs shares in the responsibilities for the recruitment and selection of talented undergraduates, interacts with prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, alumni & student volunteers, and faculty; performs daily management of a geographic region and assigned travel designed to attract qualifies students and full participation in the application review process; and engages in the evaluation of Admissions applicants; and conducts frequent presentations on-campus to prospective students and their families and travels to their assigned admissions region to visit high schools, participate in joint recruitment activities, and hosts meetings for local alumni. Reporting to a Senior Associate Director, the Assistant Director of Admissions & Director of Campus Programs has regional and campus admissions duties that include but are not limited to:

Assistant Director

  • Manages full responsibility for a specific geographic admissions area - to include conducting the initial review and evaluation of all applicants.
  • Evaluates and processes academic credentials and personal qualities of applicants on a regional level, under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director and on the individual schools level as a member of a committee comprised of Deans, faculty and students, participating in decision-making and determination of application status.
  • Counsels students on Georgetown programs that best suit their needs through on-campus contact, either individually or in group information sessions; and/or travels in assigned regions - recruiting prospective students or disseminating information about undergraduate academics, student life, financial aid, admissions requirements, and application procedures.
  • Travels to their assigned admissions region to visit high schools, participates in joint recruitment activities, and hosts meetings for local alumni.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for high school guidance counselors and applicants from their geographic region; and plays a significant counseling role with prospective students and their parents, helping them to better understand the University's academic programs, student life, financial aid, and admission standards.
  • Serves as the staff contact for the Alumni Admissions Program Committees in their geographic regions, communicating information on admissions policies standards and processes; and ensures their committee members understand both admissions procedures and admissions results.

Director of Campus Programs

  • Organizes and schedules all on-campus information sessions and tours for approximately 60,000 visitors yearly.
  • Manages the Blue Gray Tour Guide Society of more than100 tour guides.
  • Conducts frequent presentations on-campus to prospective students and their families, including some weekends.

Supervision

  • Supervises a full-time Information Officer.
  • Supervises several work-study students responsible for visitor and caller management in the Campus Programs area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - Master's preferred
  • 3 to 4 years of Admissions experience preferred - in particular, Campus Programs
  • Willingness and availability to travel and to work weekend and evening commitments
