Finance and Operations Associate
The American Immigration Council (“Council”), a 501(c) (3) nonprofit is a powerful voice in promoting laws, policies, and attitudes that honor our proud history as a nation of immigrants. The Finance and Operations Associate will work closely with the Deputy Executive Director to implement the Council's day-to-day financial and operational management strategies necessary to meet the demands of a dynamic, high-performing organization. As with all positions at the Council, this position requires commitment to the Council’s mission.
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Implementing and maintaining all of the organization's financial policies and procedures (including but not limited to: audits, financial statements, payroll, lobbying, investments, expense reconciliations, campaign finance/legislative reporting and compliance, multi-state charitable registrations, business and tax registrations).
- Supporting the Deputy Executive Director in budgeting and accounting and work with the accountant to prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements and budget analysis.
- Producing all budgets and reports for grants and contracts in accordance with corresponding terms and conditions.
- Tracking and maintaining all received grant funding; this includes preparation of progress reports, budget management and expense tracking, and management of employees’ time spent on each grant.
- Supporting the Deputy Executive Director in the areas of human resources and technology, including coordinating the implementation of services, policies, and programs.
- Providing project management support including preparation of documents and follow-up on timeliness and deliverables, companywide resource-tracking and business development pipeline evaluation.
- Working with Department Directors to develop strategies and internal policies and procedures for the effective and efficient flow of information across departments and to the Board.
A bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or business administration and at least 2-3 years of relevant experience working in an administrative and/ or accounting capacity using accounting software, (QuickBooks preferred) in nonprofit accounting. Experience with SharePoint, Salesforce and Excel is also required.
