  • The paralegal works under the direct supervision of the Town Attorney, performing full spectrum paralegal services for the Town Attorney’s office and handles difficult, confidential and complex projects and situations.
  • Works independently and collaboratively to complete assignments and projects for the Town as directed by the Town Attorney
  • Performs legal and other related research; litigation and transactional support; drafting typing and proofreading documents and administration of the office’s electronic file management system


  • Bachelor’s degree, supplemented by paralegal certificate from an ABA or comparably recognized training program and a minimum of four years’ experience; or, equivalent combination of education, training and experience in municipal or county government Must be competent in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Microsoft Outlook
  • Certification as a Virginia Notary Public, or able to obtain within one month of employment Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to interact appropriately with citizens, staff and public officials. Demonstrated professionalism
