Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

 2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

 3. Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

 4. Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

 5. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

 6. Develops and directs tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

 7. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 8. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

 9. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibilities.

 11. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 13. Participates in special projects as required.

 

Overview

 

The client’s New Campus East (NCE) Active IT Program was established to provide the infrastructure services required to build out and maintain the NCE facilities. Sr. Systems Engineer expertise is needed to provide on-site support in a 12 X 7 X 365 shift environment.

 

Job Description:

 

The O&S Tier 3 User Facing Services (UFS) Systems Engineer (Sr.) will work as part of an agile team responsible for maintaining and improving system functionality through proactive interaction with the customer, comprehensive understanding of their primary GEOINT exploitation systems, and knowledge of the customer mission. The candidate will support of over 4000 devices on multiple enclaves, utilizing SCCM and other remote administration tools to manage desktop services (i.e., upgrade, patch, troubleshoot, etc.). The successful candidate will provide Tier III on-site, remote, and on the floor, technical and system administration support through troubleshooting, identifying and isolating issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing appropriate solutions to software anomalies as they occur. The engineer will actively trouble shoot Operating System (OS) and software integration issues and make corrective recommendations. The engineer will demonstrate extensive knowledge of intelligence production systems used by GEOINT analysts. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of GEOINT analyst’s various software suites and functions to include but not limited to RemoteView, SocetGXP, and ArcGIS. Likewise, the candidate should be able to quickly respond to application related issues, resolve on the spot problems (where possible), replicate the issue for internal analysis/diagnosis, and prepare technical documentation accurately depicting the problem and/or solution for feedback to developer/vendor.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The O&S Tier 3-Level UFS Systems Engineer (Sr.) responsibilities will include:

    Assisting the customer with technical issues, analysis, troubleshooting, installation and configuration, and development responsibilities for all the functional areas under current contract for workstations and servers to include:Support software and hardware transitionsHardware/software troubleshootingCustomer desk-side and remote assistanceSet up, configure, and maintain user accounts and profilesEngineer, configure and perform backup solutionsActive Directory configuration and troubleshootingUser Group maintenanceSecurity and Configuration ManagementUser data restorationTroubleshoot complex problems and provides customer support for software operating systems and application issuesAdvise hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirementsProvide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineersMay serve as a technical team or task leaderMaintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assignedResponsible for the analysis, administration and support of production desktop devices and End-usersCoordinates production desktop services with the customer, project managers, and systems integratorsProvide subject matter expertise on matters dealing with desktops, peripherals, desktop applications, networks, servers, and storage.Provide coordination on issues related to application and upgrades, discrepancy work off and vendor upgradesMaintains network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.Install, troubleshoot, and replace desktop systems, software and peripherals.Design and maintain application and operating system packages through task sequences and packages.Supporting workstation platform and Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7 and future releases) that support desktop applications management and maintenance, including version control, application virtualization of enterprise desktop applications, and operating system deployments.Build/design/implement collections, programs and advertisements within the SCCM console

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong skills in Windows System Administration
  • Knowledge of PERL, BASIC or other scripting languages is desiredJava and C++ Expertise in SCCM (e.g., creating packages, task sequences, advertisements, etc.)Extensive knowledge in Active Directory (Security Groups, OU's, Managing Shared Resources), DNS, DHCP, DFS, DFS-R, File and Print Services, and GPO validation, management, and implementationUnderstanding of multiple primary production applications (e.g., ArcGIS, RemoteView, and Socet GXP.)
  • DoD 8570 Certified in IAT Level II (e.g., Security + CE)
