Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a research assistant to work on a variety of projects at the IPS Employment Center.  Three primary projects are (1) a telephone interview survey study of state mental health leaders regarding supported employment services, (2) a pilot study to evaluate the acceptability and utility of a mobile application to help workers with psychiatric disabilities to cope on the job, and (3) maintenance of social media accounts for the center.

Job Responsibilities:

· Assists in preparation of materials for Institutional Review Board review and renewal. · Contacts research participants to schedule interviews and observations. · Conducts research interviews. · Conducts literature searches relevant to ongoing research projects. · Involved in all aspects of data collection. · Manages data entry, data cleaning, and data file maintenance. · Prepares appropriate representations of data such as data tables, matrices, etc.

· Participates in the preparation of reports and presentation of the research findings.

· Participates in research team meetings. · Maintain social media accounts for the IPS Employment Center · Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· A bachelor's degree is required.
A master's degree is preferred. At least 1 year of research experience is preferred.  
Knowledge of computers, software applications, and social media as well as computer software packages for data analysis and presentation, on-line literature search engines, and manuscript preparation are essential. Candidate should possess strong organizational and time management skills, critical thinking skills, and excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a research team.
