The Senior Software Developer will be a seasoned web and mobile application developer who has extensive experience with development of presentation (GUI); security; application; and database layers. This is an evolving opportunity seeking to employ cutting edge web applications to increase efficiency and performance supporting Special Operations Forces. The successful candidate will be motivated; team oriented; and have a drive to make a difference in warfighting capabilities

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

    The focus of is on web applications and Android/iOS/ mobile platformsProvide full lifecycle software development to include requirements gathering; design; development; testing; documentation; training; configuration; and maintenance of developed software projectsMaintain existing custom-developed software; and support COTS/GOTS software products as neededHelp evolve the software development methodology based on agile and lean thinking; including the establishment of coding conventions; documentation standards; testing procedures and quality assuranceWork with IT professionals to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes
 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

    Experience in one or more of the following: Java; JavaScript; Python; Ruby; Objective-C; SwiftSharePoint development experience (MCSD certification highly desired)Experience developing web-based applications; utilizing HTML5/JavaScript/CSSUnderstanding of responsive design techniques and mobile web clientsWorking knowledge of one or more of the following application frameworks: Sencha Touch; Thursby SDK; ExtJS; JQuery; web2py; Ruby on Rails; IIS/Web Services; and AngularJSStrong understanding and working knowledge of at least some of the following: UI/UX design; MVC; WCF; SQL; RESTful web services; mobile app development; and Ajax methodologiesExperience in developing cloud hosted applications: Amazon Web Services cloud preferredExperience working in an agile environment (Kanban and Scrum)Innovation: Always looking for ways to integrate new technology to solve problems and fill in capability gaps. Demonstrated expertise selecting and utilizing open source products in applications and solutionsExperience in cross-platform mobile app development (PhoneGap; Apache Cordova)Working knowledge of software development tools such as Redmine; JIRA; and GitHub/GitLabRequires a good working knowledge of information systems and applications in a DevOps environment; including Linux (Red Hat); Windows Server 2008R2; Apache; and PostgreSQLGood business communication skills. Position will require developing and giving presentationsDetail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of workAir Force and/or DOD background a plus
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 

MCSD desired

Qualifications 5-8 years of related software development experience.

DoDI 8570.01m Certification required (IAT-I compliant): Minimum Security + CE, CSSLP preferred within 6 months of hire

The work is performed in an office environment

Possible short term TDYs to meet with users

Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required

Lift over 35 LBS
