GENERAL SUMMARY: Primary focus is on Human Resources activities exclusively for a GDIT contract to develop and grow the National Language Service Corps (NLSC). This is a direct position exclusively for this General Dynamics IT contract. A first-of-its-kind government organization, the NLSC offers multilingual speakers the opportunity to volunteer their language skills and be a bridge to their language communities. These individuals, known as NLSC Members, speak, listen, read, and understand English and another language and make themselves available to help others when a U.S. Government requirement arises. The NLSC has almost 8,000 members currently with skills in well over 300 languages.

 

• Coordinate the process for federally hiring a portion of membership as intermittent schedule Federal Employees to fulfill client needs and assignments

• Direct and guide NLSC members through the federal application process, including completion of mandatory forms, fingerprinting, and resume building, all requiring both review and validation before submission

• Communicate changes in Defense Human Resource Activity (DHRA) policies and procedures to NLSC members.

• Maintain federal hire web page designed to assist and guide users in the completion of their federal hiring documents

• Assist management with the updates of program processes and procedures including work instructions, SOPs, and hiring templates.

• Utilize Microsoft CRM Platform to query NLSC database to obtain and review specific applicant data

• Research federal HR regulations as needed

• Participate in special projects as required.

• May require travel.

Education Bachelors Degree in a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Qualifications 2-5 years of related human resources experience.  Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level clearance.

 • Dependable, motivated, highly organized individual with HR experience in diverse, fast-paced office operations requiring strong problem solving skills.

• Ability to work in a flexible, evolving organizational structure and develop strong relationships with all levels of employees internal and external to the contract.

• Strong knowledge of applicable personnel and employment laws

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to succesfully problem solve under pressure

• Strong research skills and stakeholder relationship management skills with membership, internal staff and government agencies.

• A proven ability to build rapport with individuals from all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

• Strong attention to detail with a philosophy of creating a high-trust culture that fosters a strong team environment.

• Ability to relate to individuals at all levels, with good understanding of diversity issues.

• Demonstrated effective communication skills, including conflict resolution and strong customer service skills

• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities and produce quality results under deadlines

• Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and other office-related software applications.

• Process oriented with strict attention to details

• Excellent organizational, time management and analytical skills

• Ability to perform efficiently under pressure and strict deadlines

• Self-motivator; able to work independently and with little supervision

• High level of integrity

• Foreign language skills a plus

• Understanding of different cultures a plus.
