ISE Network Engineer (NIPR/SIPR)
Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks. 1. Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. 2. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments. 3. Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements. 4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed. 5. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users. 6. May perform network administration duties. 7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 8. Participates in special projects as required. Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Must have a CASP certification or hgher. Qualifications 2-5 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design. Candidates shall have information systems experience in network technologies; understanding of the information systems engineering and able to translate the functional requirements and performance objectives into design criteria and specifications for the individual elements and subsystems that will make up that system. They should also have knowledge of the following: Data Systems to include troubleshooting and configuration of routers; hubs and switches for both NIPRNET and SIPRNET connectivity; or; familiarity with the TCP/IP protocols (Ipv4 and Ipv6); Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802-3; routing protocols; intrusion detection systems; and firewalls. Network Operations Center to include trouble ticket reporting systems such as Remedy; network management systems such as HP Openview and Ciscoworks; or; help desk services for all network problems. Information Assurance policies and procedures.
